Increased engine performance for 1.4 16V Multiair Turbo Engines Abarth, Alfa and Fiat
In the course of more than 85 years of activity, Colombo & Bariani have always been suppliers to leading companies and brands in the area of sports and racing cars, such as Abarth, Alfa-Lancia Corse, Osca-Maserati and many others. Among other things supplying camshafts for engines used in Formula 1.
Cams are manufactured according to the latest industrial standards with a craftsman care. They are machined to very precise tolerances using CNC machines. They are made from resistant steel utilizing the best heat treatments to get a durable product.
What is a performance camshaft?
The single most important part in an engine upgrade is the camshaft. It determines how much power the engine can deliver at a certain rev range.
By changing the profile of the camshafts e.g higher lift and duration the greater air/fuel mix can be sucked into the cylinders thus increasing the power.
In order to get an improvement in the performance of an engine intended also for standard road use (i.e. with stable engine idle and low exhaust emissions) it is important to choose camshafts with a small valve timing and a rather limited T.D.C. lift.
Colombo & Bariani road profiles give good general performance, together with a good torque delivery already in the lower rpm range. Racing profiles have higher lifts and wider overlap angles and shall be used only in competition engines.
Performance camshaft benefits
• This profile is for fast road cars
• High quality steel billet cams with heat treatment for long lifetime
• Made in Italy by Colombo & Bariani. A factory created in 1934.
Please note this is NOT a mediocre reprofiled standard camshaft with reduced base circle that you can find online today from other sellers.
This is the the real thing made in Italy from top quality heat treated steel billet material.
The standard factory cam in the MultiAir engine is made from low cost iron cast material and not very good or durable to reprofile/regrind.
This product comes with the following specifications:
Inlet cam lift: 7.8 mm
11° - 51°
All Camshafts are sold on the basis of their declared technical specifications and without regard for the performance obtainable, which may be affected, among other things, by other engine design parameters.
